About us

The Association for tibetan-buddhist Culture e.V. takes its name from the first Drikung Kyabgön Chungtsang – Dharmakirti (1595 – 1659). Dharmakirti was one of the most famous tibetan scholars and yogis of his time. The Centre was founded in December 1984 and is recognized as a non-profit organisation. It is under the patronage of both lineage holders of the Drikungchoedrak Kagyü Tradition, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and Kyabgon Chungtsang. One of the main objectives of the association is to convey in an authentic way buddhist tradition and practice, as it is practiced in the tibetan tradition, and especially in the Drikung-Kagyü-Lineage. Beyond that, we also wish to promote the exchange of ideas about western and eastern cultural values and treasures and through the tenet of compassion, to make a creative contribution towards more tolerance and a better understanding between nations.
